Festivali südames on meil õnnestunud kutsuda erinevad teatritegijad looma kolme “performatiivset keset“, mis on mõeldud selleks, et võtta publikut vastu kui külalist ja anda tema kohalviibimisele performatiivne raamistik. Publik võib neis kesetes veeta terve õhtu või liikuda sealt edasi teiste sündmuste, ruumide ja etenduste juurde ning tulla nende juurest tagasi. Need keskmed püüavad käsitleda külalislahkust kui praktikat kolmel eri viisil.
Iisraeli lavastaja Yosi Wanunu ja tema Viinis paiknev trupp toxic dreams on tuntud oma keerukate, erinevaid meediaid kasutavate etenduste poolest. Spetsiaalselt festivali tarbeks loovad ja teostavad nad ühiskondliku performansi Life of the Party. Läbi biograafilise ajaliini sünnist pulmade ja matusteni keskenduvad Yosi Wanunu ja muusik ning videokunstnik Michael Strohmann ühiskondlikele situatsioonidele, kus inimesed tulevad kokku, et pühitseda, tähistada koosolemist, õnne või leina. Peovanem jagab oma mälestusi ja perekonnalugusid õhtusöögi külalistega. Seeläbi muudab ta vaatajad aktiivseteks osalejateks, kes võtavad osa privaatsetest vestlustest, tantsudest ja isegi peomängudest.
Yosi Wanunu sündis ja kasvas üles Akkos, Iisraelis. Yosi õpppis kunstiajalugu, filmi ja teatrit Iisraelis ja USAs. Ta on laialdaselt reisinud, õppides spetsiifilisi teatri- ja filmitehnikaid ja stiile. Peale kaheksat aastat tööd lavastaja ja lavakujundajana New Yorgis (Ontological Hysteric Theatre, Here, BCBC jt.), kolis ta 1997. aastal Viini, kus ta oli üks toxic dreams'i asutajatest. Sellest ajast peale on ta lavastanud ja kujundanud selle trupiga rohkem kui 40 etendust, näiteks Titus Andronicus 1-3, Vanja 1-3, Sõjakunst, 100 % keskkonnasõbralik šõu, jt. Tema viimane etendus Kollapsonoomika esietendus Viinis oktoobri lõpus. Ta töötab koos mitmete teiste truppide ja esinejatega Euroopast.
Michael Strohmann on helilooja ja meediakunstnik. Ta õppis arvutiteadusi Viini Tehnilises Ülikoolis ja elektroonilist muusikat ning elektroonilist meediat Viini Muusika ja Tarbekunstiülikoolis. Ta mängib ja komponeerib koos ansambliga Fuckhead. Michael on kujundanud heliinstallatsioone erinevatele festivalidele ja kureerinud mitmeid muusikaüritusi. At the core of the festival, we have been able to invite different theatre makers to create three “performative hubs”, artistic distributors designed to welcome the visitor as a guest and give his or her stay a performative framing. The audience may stay with the hubs throughout the evening or proceed from there to other events, to the rooms, to other shows and performances, and come back again. These hubs tackle the practice of hospitality in three different ways.
Israeli director Yosi Wanunu and his Vienna-based group toxic dreams are well-known for their crafted mixed media performances. For this festival, they have conceived and realized a social performance that traces a biographical timeline, from birth via wedding to funeral. Yosi Wanunu and musician and video artist Michael Strohmann set out to portray social situations where people get together and celebrate, commemorate, and spend times of togetherness, happiness, or grief. A party host shares his memories and family stories with the dinner guests who are seated around a long table. Thereby, he turns the audience into active participants who engage in private talks, dances or even party games.
Yosi Wanunu was born and grew up in Akko/Israel. Yosi studied art history, film and theatre sudies in Israel and the US. He has travelled widely learning specific theatre and film techniques and styles. After eight years of working as a director and set designer in NYC (including Ontological Hysteric Theatre, Here, BCBC), he moved to Vienna in 1997, where he co-founded toxic dreams. Since then he has directed and designed more than 40 shows with the group. His recent show Collapsonomics premiered at the end of October in Vienna. www.toxicdreams.at
Michael Strohmann is a composer and media artist. He studied computer science at the Technical University in Vienna as well as computer music and electronic media at the University of Music and Applied Arts in Vienna. He plays with and composes for the band Fuckhead. Michael has designed sound installations for various festivals and been the curator of several music series. He has been a member of toxic dreams since 1998 – as composer, musician and media artist.
